Practices

Practice for the Fencing club are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm. Practice is held in the Mylan Expo Center (address included below). Feel free to inquire about carpooling if you don't have a car or other ride arrangements. Anyone interested in joining a carpool for practice should let us know as soon as possible by going to the Contacts tab to provide plenty of time to arrange pickup logistics. Participation in the Fencing Club is open to anyone regardless of experience or equipment owned, any needed gear can be provided by the Club. Just come with some clothes you can sweat in!

For those new or unfamiliar to the sport of Fencing, the first couple of weeks of practice are designed to provide the foundations needed for developing sufficient technique and comfort with the different types of footwork and movement integral for Fencing. We also introduce the gear/clothing used in Fencing throughout this period as well as how to handle the different types of swords used for competition (Foil, Epee, or Sabre). Feel free to email the club if there any questions or curiosities that you want to ask!

Requirements for Club Participation

All WVU students must fill out and submit consent forms that can be found at WVUGo.

The instructions for completing are as follows:

1. Login to WVUGo by Visiting  wvugo.wvu.edu Or Downloading the App  
2. Login Using Your WVU Credentials 
3. Select Programs, Courses, and Trips 
4. Classification: Club Sports 
5. Semesters: Club Sports 2021-2022 
6. All Categories: Select Your Club 
7. Click Register 
8. Sign by Clicking the Signature Box 
9. Click Sign Now 
10. Update Emergency Contacts and Information (if Applicable) 
11. Click Continue 
12. Photo, Video, Audio & Other Recording – Yes or No 
13. Add this Registration to Your Cart
